Did you know
It began in 1811 as Ruislip Reservoir, a feeder for the Grand Junction Canal, and was formally opened as a lido by Earl Howe in 1936.
Local tip
The lido site is free to enter but parking is charged (its published tariff runs from about £3.50 to £5 a day depending on the month). Swimming is officially not allowed owing to pollution and no lifeguards, so it is one for the beach, the woodland walks and the miniature railway.
