Fighter Command moved into the Priory on 14 July 1936, and the RAF station here did not close until 2008.
Local tip
Open Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and bank holiday Mondays: 10am-5pm from March to September (last entry 4pm) and 10am-4pm from October to February; closed mid-December to mid-January. No booking needed; adults pay £9.50.
