Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park
A 19th-century burial ground that has reverted to woodland, with tilting Victorian monuments among the trees. It is a 33-acre local nature reserve close to Mile End.

Did you know
It opened in September 1841 as one of London's Magnificent Seven cemeteries and closed to burials in 1966 after about 350,000 burials.
Local tip
Free to enter. The main gate on Southern Grove is locked at dusk, so visit in daylight and check locally. The park has held a Green Flag Award since 2012.
