Did you know
Soane bought the estate in 1800 and had it rebuilt by 1804, then sold it in 1810 because his wife Eliza disliked country life and he had fallen out with his sons.
Local tip
Adult tickets are £14; the house is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am-5pm (last admission an hour before closing) and until 8pm on the first Thursday of the month. Ealing residents can pay what they can on Sundays 10am-noon and on first Thursday evenings.
