The monastery was founded in 1371 on a Black Death burial ground, and the almshouse has admitted women as Brothers only since 2017.
Local tip
The museum display, chapel and shop are free with no booking, Tuesday to Saturday 10:30-16:30; guided tours run at 11:00 and 14:15 (60 minutes for the historic buildings tour) and are best booked ahead online.
