Did you know
Almost all the land was once housing, industry and transport, cleared over decades to make the park, whose idea came from the 1943 Abercrombie plan; the Grand Surrey Canal that ran through it closed in the early 1970s.
Local tip
It links Walworth, Bermondsey and Peckham, so it works well as a green cut-through on a walk between them. Chumleigh Gardens and the former almshouses are in the park.
