Brockwell Hall was built in 1811-13, and the London County Council bought the estate in 1891 and opened it to the public the following summer.

The park is normally open from 7.30am to 15 minutes before sunset. The walled flower garden near Brockwell Hall is the calm corner, and the lido is also in the grounds.
