Did you know
The garden was built in 1906 by architect Sir Stanley Peach as a decorative roof over the Duke Street electricity substation beneath it, meaning the whole 10,000-square-foot deck of trees and seating sits above equipment still supplying power to the area today.
Local tip
Access is via a step-free lift as well as stairs at either end, making it one of the easier elevated gardens in central London to reach if you have mobility needs or are pushing a buggy.
