Valence House Museum
A partly moated manor house in Dagenham, now a free local museum with displays on the area's past, a tearoom and walled gardens. It is the only survivor of Dagenham's five manor houses.

Did you know
The house was used as the local government headquarters while the Becontree Estate was being built, and served as Dagenham's town hall until 1937.
Local tip
Open Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday, 10am to 4pm, with the museum building closed from 12pm to 1pm each day. Entry is free, and the grounds and tearoom stay open through the lunch closure.
