It opened on 28 July 1906 as the Tooting Bathing-Lake, a scheme proposed by a rector to give work to local unemployed men.
Local tip
Public swimming runs from May to September, so check the season dates and book through Places Leisure; outside the season only South London Swimming Club members can swim. The pool is unheated, you need a padlock for the lockers, and Sunday club races at 9.30am pause public swimming.
