The concrete platform at the summit was built in the First World War as a gun emplacement against Zeppelin raids, and a 'Seat of Peace' replaced the gun after the war.

Open at all hours and free. Go early in the morning, when the light flatters the skyline and fewer people are about; midday is the busiest time.
