Did you know
It opened its doors in November 1961 with a production of The Little Mermaid using string marionettes, and has run continuously since, celebrating over 60 years as Britain's dedicated puppetry venue rather than a one-off children's attraction.
Local tip
It's genuinely aimed at both children and adults. Check the programme before assuming it's purely a kids' venue, since it also runs puppet-making and manipulation workshops for grown-ups.
