Did you know
On 30 December 1952 the bridge began to rise while a number 78 double-decker bus was crossing, and driver Albert Gunter accelerated to jump a 1.8 metre gap onto the far side.
Local tip
The exhibition is open daily 9:30am to 6pm, with last entry at 5pm. Tickets can be booked up to eight weeks ahead but do not give fast-track entry, so allow spare time for security checks; bridge lifts can occasionally cause delays.
