It began in 1978 on a 1.3-acre former railway goods depot, initially as an allotment site, before animals were brought in.
Local tip
Free entry (donations encouraged), open Tuesday to Sunday: 10am-4.30pm while the clocks are on British Summer Time (until late October) and 10am-4pm in winter. Try to catch the annual Oxford v Cambridge goat race.
