The Heath's ponds began as 17th and 18th-century reservoirs, and swimmers won a High Court challenge in 2004 after the City of London tried to close the bathing ponds.
Local tip
Entry is £5 (£3 concession); under-16s and over-60s swim free before 9.30am with proof of age. It is open April to October, for competent swimmers only, has no lockers, and from 1 October 2026 takes cashless payment only.
