London Zoo opened the world's first public aquarium in 1853 and was the first zoo to have a reptile house, in 1849.
Local tip
Open daily except Christmas Day from 10am, with last entry an hour before closing and earlier closing in autumn and winter. Book online in advance, as online tickets are cheaper than at the gate.
