Did you know
On the 1792 summer solstice the Welsh poet Iolo Morganwg held the first Gorsedd of the Bards here, a ceremony imitating ancient Druid rites. A plaque unveiled in 2009 marks it.
Local tip
Arrive 30 minutes before sunset to claim a spot on the upper slope, but check the forecast first. A cloudy evening isn't worth the climb, and winter sunsets actually align better with the skyline than summer ones.
