Did you know
Gatti's ice wells once stored ice shipped in from Norwegian lakes, were sealed and forgotten around 1956, then accidentally rediscovered decades later in the 1980s. They've since been cleaned out and can be viewed from an observation platform inside the museum.
Local tip
The ice-well viewing platform is easy to miss if you only look at the canal-history exhibits upstairs. It's arguably the single most memorable part of the museum, so make sure to find it.
