Did you know
Whistling has long been banned in the arcade, reportedly because it was a pickpockets' signal, and its beadles were originally drawn from Lord Cavendish's regiment, the 10th Royal Hussars.
Local tip
Open every day: 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm Saturday and 11am to 6pm Sunday. It is about 180 metres long, so it works as a quick detour between Piccadilly and Burlington Gardens.
