The firm began in 1698 as a coffee shop run by the Widow Bourne at 3 St James's Street, still its head office in a Grade II* listed building; the retail shop moved to Pall Mall in 2017.
Local tip
The shop is closed on Sundays, Mondays and bank holidays, so visit Tuesday to Saturday. Producer tastings are complimentary and drop-in, and advisers are on hand to help you choose.
