Did you know
Samuel Pepys watched the Great Fire of London from here in 1666, writing that he took refuge in "a little alehouse on bankside" to watch the flames. The pub is the sole survivor of the riverside inns that once served the actors of Shakespeare's Globe, the Swan and the Rose theatres nearby.
Local tip
Get a table on the riverside terrace if the weather allows. The Thames-facing outdoor seating right by London Bridge is the main draw over the pub's interior.
