Did you know
Opened in 1959, it was the first UK club to regularly host visiting American jazz musicians during a period when a Musicians' Union agreement restricted US acts from playing Britain; its stage hosted Jimi Hendrix's last-ever public performance, the night before he died in 1970.
Local tip
Buy tickets online well in advance. Headline acts sell out weeks ahead. And arrive early to queue on the correct side of the building, since non-members are seated after members and in order of arrival.
