Did you know
Founder Sue Davies opened it in 1971 inside a converted Lyons Tea Bar, at a time when few institutions treated photography as a fine-art medium at all. It moved to its current Ramillies Street home in Soho in 2012.
Local tip
Check what's on before visiting. As a photography-only space its whole program rotates on a different rhythm from a general art museum, and the outdoor Soho Photography Quarter added in 2022 is worth a look even if you don't go inside.
