Did you know
Built as Granville Arcade in the 1930s, the market became a hub for London's Windrush-generation Caribbean community from the 1950s onward, and in 2010 it was given Grade II listed status specifically in recognition of that history, after a local campaign fought off a redevelopment plan.
Local tip
Go hungry rather than just to browse, the arcade today is dominated by small restaurant units rather than general shopping, and it gets busiest at lunch and on weekend evenings.
